Thanks for all the help with cancer treatment

This past July, I was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of prostate cancer at the age of 47. When I received the news it I felt as if I'd been punched in the stomach.

I was very fortunate to have the love and support of my family. My brother, sister and sister-in-law have worked at hospitals for years and I benefited from their knowledge. This past summer was a merry-go-round of consultations with surgeons (six!) and additional tests.

It was a long and difficult journey but I've come out on the other side. It's now 10 days after my surgery and the lab results show that I'm free of cancer. I feel great and I'm getting stronger day by day.

I wanted to thank the following people who helped my story have a happy ending and who treated my wife and I with kindness and compassion.

My doctor, Dr. Kenneth Osnoss of Danbury.

Dr. William Hennessey at Urology Associates of Danbury.

The staff at Danbury Hospital.

Special thanks to Su Murdock and Jim Coffey at Ann's Place in Danbury. This support group was a tremendous gift. They called and e-mailed me with advice -- while vacationing -- to help out a complete stranger. I chose my surgeon based on their firsthand experiences.

To my beautiful wife of six years, thank you, Felicia, for always being at my side.

Lastly, thank you to Dr. David Samadi and the staff at Mt. Sinai Hospital for giving me my life back.

Bob B.
