D. Hamilton, Connecticut
"We interviewed 4 surgeons and 3 radiation oncologists, and decided on robotic surgery and Dr. Samadi. A urology oncologist with years of experience in open and laparoscopic prostatectomy surgery, Dr. Samadi’s extensive experience with robotic surgery made him our first choice."

While everyone’s choice of treatment should and will be different, I know by my outcome and recovery as well as my Dad, that choosing the Samadi Team and Mount Sinai Medical Center  as my hospital choice, was the right decision.

I am sharing the experience I had when I was diagnosed with prostate cancer and what I did about it.  Since I new very little about it, I had to see what treatment plan would be best for me.

The first urologist I saw did the biopsy and told me I had prostate cancer, I questioned him about what options I had and he went thru all of the different methods of treating the problem.  There was the standard surgery, radiation with implanting radiated seeds, robotic surgery, and cryotherapy or not do anything since the progression is slow due my age and I would have other complications to worry about.  I then with my wife made the decision to get more advice from doctors.  I visited three other doctors.

The second doctor would not operate because of my age he recommended I see the third doctor who wanted to do a series of hormone shots radiated seeds and external radiation which would take approximately nine months. The third doctor I saw was a very down to earth he also went thru all the different methods but he felt that the way to go was robotic surgery. Now I wanted to know why and this is what he told me even though he is not a robotic surgeon. He said “it is the most accurate and the least invasive way to go, and is the shortest time for recovery”. I then went to see the urologist who does the implants and spent time with him going over the complete procedure and the length of time it took.  I now went home to contemplate what I was going to do.  I am 73 years old and in good health and still working, I felt that the best way for me to go would be the shortest time for recovery and the least evasive.  The third doctor that recommended robotic surgery who told me to go and see Dr. Samadi. The reason being was because Dr. Samadi is the most experienced of all the doctors in New York in doing robotic surgery.  So that’s who I went to see.  My wife went with me and we went thru the full procedure about robotic surgery. While we were discussing the surgery he said he wanted to cure me and my wife said “that’s it”. The previous doctors said the procedure would only prolong my life.  Unequivocally Dr. Samadhi became my doctor.

As for my results it couldn’t be better.  I entered the hospital on Thursday March the 2nd at 1pm and was operated on at 3pm.  I went home on Friday the 3rd at noon.  I went back on Wednesday 5 days after the surgery to have the catheter removed and I stayed home till the end of the week.  Monday morning I went back to work, I felt pretty good and I didn’t think that I would be able to go back to work that fast but I did.  Naturally I took it easy that week because I had to give myself time to heal.  As I said my results were great, when I went into the hospital my PSA was 4.7 and now after a month my PSA is .03.  I am currently back at the gym 3 times per week and I bike ride every Sunday morning.  I am very thankful for my success which I attribute to Dr. Samadi.  My recommendation for the treatment of prostate cancer would be ROBOTIC PROSTATE SURGERY by experienced doctor such as Dr. David Samadi.
