What helps him determine treatment is knowing the volume of cancer in the prostate. The first place that cancer goes to is the lymph nodes then bones. As part of staging, he uses bone and CAT scans to see if the cancer has spread to bone, to see what is in abdomen, pelvic area and lymph nodes.
