Early prostate cancer detection is key to treatment. Dr. Samadi explains the diagnosis process, from screenings to biopsy results, for clarity and peace of mind.
Step 1: PSA Blood Test
The first step in detecting prostate cancer often begins with a PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen) blood test. PSA is a protein made by prostate cells, and higher-than-normal levels may indicate:
- Prostate cancer
- Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH)
- Prostatitis (prostate inflammation)
While a high PSA doesn’t always mean cancer, it signals the need for further evaluation.
